Shooting Sports County fair competition occurs at practices when the participant signs up online. You can view all available practice coming up in the list below. Be sure to pre-register so the leaders can be prepared for your qualifying event. Also to ensure you are able to advance, you are required to have your hunter safety card. You can upload the safety card through your 4H-Online account.

 2017 Events and Registration

Shooting Sports Safety Training (SQA)–All shooting sports competitors are required to take an SQA prior to participating in shooting sports competitions. This is a 4-H class led by 4-H volunteers and it provides a baseline of shooting sports safety fundamentals. You DO NOT need to bring your shooting equipment for these events. There are two upcoming opportunities to take this course:

March 4: During our Super Saturday event at Skyview Middle School, the SQA along with various other presentations will be offered. You will be able to register online for this event when Super Saturday registration opens in February. Registration will be available at THIS LINK.

May 4: There will be an SQA training held at the El Paso County Transportation Building from 6:30PM-8:30PM. You can register for this event with the form below.

Hunter Safety Card–All shooting sports competitors must obtain a Hunter Safety Card in order to compete in 4-H shooting sports competitions. Once you obtain the card, it must be uploaded to your 4-Honline account. There is a FREE Hunter Safety Certification Training on March 11-12–CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife also offers Hunter Safety Certificate courses at locations throughout the state. If you have a Junior age 4-H member (8 to 10), please check with the class instructor to ensure they are accepting youth participants. CLICK HERE to view a list of available courses.

Practices–Register online with the forms below.

Shooting Sports Practices will occur on the first Sunday and third Saturday of the month from 1PM-4PM. There is no fee at Judge Orr Road and a TBD fee per practice when it occurs at the Cheyenne Shooting Complex. Pre-registration is required to participate in all practices. Members must arrive and check in by 2:30PM on the day of the event. Volunteers cannot accommodate late arrivals.

New County Shooting Sports Contest procedure – New for 2017! Youth will be able to select an upcoming practice date/time to shoot their county-level contest qualifier for State Fair.  Youth must have previously attended two discipline practices prior to scheduling to shoot their official county-level contest for scoring. All disciplines except Shotgun, Pistol Silhouettes, and 3-D Archery will utilize this new procedure for county-level scoring. Dates for Shotgun, Pistol Silhouettes and 3-D Archery qualifiers are still TBD. You can indicate if you would like to shoot your county-level qualifier for State Fair on the registration form below.

SHOOTING SPORTS REGISTRATION–Pre-Registration is REQUIRED for all practices.

Last chance competition opportunity! Saturday, July 8, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Cheyenne Mountain Shooting Complex (must pre-register to compete and get assigned range times)  Entry Form due June 30, 2017, if not doing shotgun.  Otherwise due June 16, 2017, with shotgun entry.
