Friends Of eXtension (FOX)

The primary mission of FOX is fund raising activities in support of Colorado State University Extension. The secondary mission is to apprise local elected officials of CSU Extension’s added value and to solicit funding support from those officials for Extension programs and staff.  A third mission is to foster education of the public about Extension and the programs they offer.

Since 2012, FOX has planned and implemented an annual Open Garden Tour of private residences in El Paso County. This fundraising is supported by local businesses and private citizens. Over the years, the Open Garden Tour has become a renown and accepted event attracting hundreds of visitors from up and down the Front Range.

This Open Garden Tour is the primary event FOX organizes. Planning begins two years in advance. If you would are interested in supporting this event as a member of the planning committee, contact Joan at

FOX has provided more then $30,000 in financial support to the Colorado State University Extension in El Paso County. Those funds have enabled Extension to hire additional staff to initiate new programs such as Colorado building Farmers and to purchase equipment.
